Counselling offers you the opportunity to explore experiences that you may never have discussed with anyone and that are intensely personal. Therefore I ensure I maintain confidentiality as it is essential to the counselling therapeutic relationship. As a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) I abide by the BACP Code of Ethics. Confidentiality is maintained when storing any records and when working with clients.
Information is only shared with another health care professional if I have concerns that you might harm yourself or others. If at all possible I would discuss this with you beforehand. This policy is abiding by the BACP Code of Ethics.
